Passion
Everyone talks about sharing what you’re passionate about…for me that is a challenge because I truly love so many different things. But if I really look at what’s at the core, it’s my connection with nature.
I am passionate about cultivating a life where I can leave something better than I found it. Being a steward to the land. Remembering my heritage and who I am. My art allows me to capture those things, those places, those memories…all of what brings me so much peace.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m passionate about being an artist or if it’s just something I enjoy. What I’ve come to learn is that painting for me is a language. It is how I speak. Sometimes my words get muddled or simply don’t come. But when I pick up a brush, I can speak. I can capture an emotion. I can show you my thoughts.
I actually like being alone and I like quietude. I ponder a lot! I often wonder when you look at my art - what do you see? Is it the object in the painting, the colors of the painting, or something else? When you look at one of my beach buckets - how do you feel? Do you hear the ocean and the giggles? Can you remember being a child? Can you remember being happy in that moment? Can you remember feeling love? I do.
In that moment when you looked at my art we had a conversation…a conversation about something I’m passionate about. So nice to talk to you.
